My Family and Community

Description

This theme gives learners the opportunity to creatively engage with ideas of belonging, being part of a family/ larger community and coming together. Learners will explore their purpose as Muslims, how they fit into their families and communities, how they build relationships, how we benefit from communal living and social connection, how they themselves contribute to their communities, and how everyone has something unique and special to offer others. Learners are reminded of how it is that our families and communities are blessings from Allah (swt). They enable us to learn from each other, share our lives with each other and be of service to others. In the final week, learners will practise research skills by investigating the local customs and cultures of various communities around the world. They will learn about the importance of being one ummah, one united community, and celebrating our differences. Most importantly, learners will reflect on our responsibility as Muslims to care for ourselves, our families and our communities.
